Appendix Four: The Subscription Lists

As mentioned above in the Introduction, the Subscription List of contributors to the Memorial Fund was published in four editions of the Preston Catholic College magazine, then known as “The Sons of the Eagle”. The names published here are those which correspond to the names on the plaques, and though this is a crude method of recording relationships, but in the absence of addresses it is the best way possible. When looking at the amounts donated it is worth remembering that £2 a week was the average man’s wage in 1926, and that Britain was only just recovering from a financial slump after the War.
