GENERAL DIRECTIONS: The cemetery is off the E42 motorway between Mons and Namur. From the E42 motorway turn onto the A54 towards Charleroi, this can be found between junctions 16 and 17. Continue along this road until junction 26, the Lodelinsart/Gilly junction. Take this turning and keep right, at the lights bear right and then immediately left into rue lodinsart (road runs parallel to the motorway access), after 500m do a U turn and go right into rue  P Paulus, then next left into rue Cayauderie and second right into rue de Bethleem followed by the first right into rue de Presbytere, the cemetery is straight ahead, and is  easily accessible and there is parking. It should be noted that the cemetery is subject to local opening hours. The Commonwealth plot can be found to the left of the main entrance.

 

The battle of Charleroi was fought between August 21st - 24th 1914, for the remainder of the war the Germans used the city as a military and administrative centre. The majority of burials here are those who died of wounds received in the Final Advance in 1918.
