GENERAL DIRECTIONS: 6km south of Ieper, between the villages of Wytschaete and Voormezele, the cemetery can be reached by taking the N331 Kemmelsweg, which is a road off the main N365 Ieper-Armentieres road. The Kemmelsweg is easily found as it is just before a level crossing, continue for 2km and then turn left into Ruusschaartstraat towards Voormezele village, after 1km opposite the church is a right turn into Wijtschatestraat, the cemetery is along on the right..
Further Information: This is a pretty but isolated cemetery, rarely visited, parking once was difficult but there is now a dedicated pull in opposite the preserved trench system known as The Bayerwald, access is via a 200m grass path.
"Croonaert Chapel" was a shrine on the Wytschaete-Voormezele road; the cemetery lies to the west of that road in an area which was in No Man’s Land before the Battle of Messines in 1917. It was started by the Burial Officer of the 19th Division in June 1917, and used until the following November; two further burials were made in April 1918 and January 1919. Originally the cemetery also contained 51 German graves, but these were removed after the armistice.
