GENERAL DIRECTIONS: Take the Elverdingestraat in the direction of Poperinge, continue over two small roundabouts into J. Capronstraat, the road you are looking for, the N308 Poperingsweg, is a continuation of J. Capronstraat and begins after the prominent level crossing. After 1km on Poperingsweg turn left into Omloopstraat and the cemetery is on the right.

 

This cemetery was first used by Commonwealth units in April 1915; it continued to be used until May 1916. Row C of the cemetery contains the mass grave of 23 men of the 2nd Bn. Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding) Regiment, all of whom were killed in the German gas attack at Hill 60 on 5th May 1915. The cemetery was opened again in July 1917 and used mostly by artillery units for burials arising from the 1917 offensive in this area.
