GENERAL DIRECTIONS: The cemetery is 11.5km south of Ieper. From the railway station in the direction of Poperinge, take the right turn onto the N375 Dikkebusseweg, pass through the village of Dikkebus and continue for a further 6km to Loker, the road changes to Dikkebusstraat, continue for a further 2km into the village of Dranouter, head for the church. Access and parking are easy.

 

Dranoutre was occupied by the 1st Cavalry Division on 14th October 1914, it was held until the Germans captured it from the French on 25th April 1918. The village was finally recaptured on 30th August 1918. The Churchyard was used for burials from October 1914 until July 1915, when Dranoutre Military Cemetery  was opened. When the church was rebuilt in 1923, 19 graves were transferred from the churchyard to the military cemetery.
