GENERAL DIRECTIONS: Take the N8 Menen Road from Ieper, on reaching the town of Menen take the left turn onto Bruggestraat (N32) towards Roeselare. After 3km take a right turn onto Ieperstraat, a further 400m along Ieperstraat is a right turn onto Korteweg. The cemetery is 200m along the Korteweg on the left.
After remaining in German hands throughout almost the whole of the war, the village of Moorsele was finally captured by the 15th Royal Irish Rifles on 14th October 1918. Kezelberg Military Cemetery was started in October 1918 and used until and beyond the armistice, many of the graves are from the very last days of the war, including a number who died on or just after 11th November 1918. Originally the cemetery contained the graves of five American soldiers, but these have been removed to the American cemetery at Waereghem.
