The church, school and civil hospital of Ledeghem were all used by the Germans as hospitals, and during their period of occupation they buried both German and British casualties in three cemeteries in the commune.
The Military Cemetery was made by the 29th Division as Ledeghem New Cemetery in October 1918, and 14 burials were later removed from Ledeghem Churchyard and re-interred in this cemetery.
