GENERAL DIRECTIONS: from the E40/A3 between Brussels and Liege, leave between junctions 35 and 36 onto the E25/A25, follow the road along the river to the junction with the N3 in the direction of Bressoux/Fleron, this road is called the rue de Amercoeur, then rue de Carmel, then rue de Robermont and then rue de Herve, as the road changes to rue de Herve the cemetery is on the left, you may drive into the cemetery, it is then possible to follow the signs to the Commonwealth plot.

 

Further Information: It should be noted that the cemetery closes at 1630 each day.

 

Liege was attacked by the Germans on August 4th 1914, and the city occupied on the 7th, the last forts were captured on the 16th. It is estimated that the resistance of the Governor cost the enemy four or five extremely valuable days. The city remained in German hands throughout the war.
