GENERAL DIRECTIONS: Leave Ieper via the Lille Gate, go directly over the crossroads with the Ieper ring road and take the N365 in the direction of Armentieres.Upon reaching the village of Wijtschate the first right turn leads onto Hospicestraat, which leads to the village square. From the square take the Wijtschatestraat for 2km before turning left into Kruisstraat. The cemetery is in the fields, approx 1km on the right.

This cemetery was started in June 1917 after the first day of the Battle of Messines, it contains the burials of 88 men, many of whom served with the Royal Irish Rifles, 36th (Ulster) Division, most of these men were tragically killed when they left their trench early and were killed by the blast and debris from the detonation of the Lone Tree mine. This cemetery stands close to the Lone Tree Crater, now renamed the 'Pool of Peace'.

Further Information: A concrete access path has now been built across the fields leading to the cemetery, although access is now much easier it can still be difficult in inclement weather.
