Motor Car Corner marked the point in this sector that military vehicles were prohibited to pass in the direction of the front. The cemetery was started in June 1917 and continued to be used by fighting units until March 1918, it was originally sheltered by an avenue of trees and used in conjunction with a trench railway. After the capture of this area, by the Germans in 1918, they extended the cemetery northwards; the German burials were later removed.
