Further Information: Although Access to the cemetery is easy, it should be noted that the wood can be very wet and boggy, nearest parking is at Prowse Point Cemetery and this is over 1km away at the top of the track to the wood.

This cemetery was made by the enclosure of a number of small regimental cemeteries. Ten graves from Plot 1 as well as the whole of Plot 2 was originally the Somerset Light Infantry Cemetery, this was made by the 1st Battalion of that regiment in December 1914. Plot 4 was the Bucks Cemetery, made by the 1st/1st Buckinghamshire Battalion, Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry in April 1915. Plot 3 contains 16 graves of the Gloucestershire Regiment and there are also a number of burials from the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, this plot, however, was known as Canadian Cemetery, Strand, from the 28 Canadian graves from 1915 and the trench known as the Strand which ran nearby. The cemetery continued to be used spasmodically throughout 1916 and 1917, and was in German hands from April 10-29 September 1918.
