Caix Communal Cemetery

The village of Caix is situated about 28 kilometres south east of Amiens, midway between the N29, Amiens-St Quentin road, and the D934, Amiens-Roye road. From the centre of the village on the main road, D28, in the direction of Beaucourt-en-Santerre, turn left at the D41 in the direction of Le Quesnel. Approximately 200 metres along this road can be found the Communal Cemetery.
Number of Identified Casualties: 1
The following five soldiers graves were moved to Caix British Cemetery, date and reason unknown. It is also a mystery why Lieutenant Todd was left behind, although it is possible that the villagers may have wished to keep one burial.

SHRIMPTON, Sqdn. Serjeant Major. Queen's Own Oxfordshire Hussars. 9th Aug. 1918, aged 27. Grave 1
WATSON, Gnr. Robert Stobo. 8th Brig. Australian Field Artillery. Killed in action 14th Aug. 1918, aged 20. Born at Elsternwick, Victoria, Australia. Grave 3
WEBB, Sgt. J., M.S.M. 1st Tunnelling Coy. Canadian Engineers. 12th Aug. 1918, aged 32. Grave 2
TODD, Lt. Alexander Revel. M.C. 5th Bn East Surrey Regiment. Died 18th April 1918. Age 25. Son of Francis Hill Todd and Amy Todd, of 6, Baldry Gardens, Streatham Common, London. In South part.
