La Ville-au-Bois is a small village in the Department of the Aube, 56 kilometres east-north-east of Troyes, and some 14 kilometres east of Brienne-le-Château. It has the distinction of being the smallest commune in France, having only some twenty inhabitants. The graves of the two British airmen of the Second World War are between the south-east corner of the church and the local memorial near the south-east boundary of the church.
