Quinquempoix Communal Cemetery

Quinquempoix is a small village 5 kilometres north of St. Juste-en-Chausée in the Department of the Oise. The communal cemetery lies on the Rue de l'Église on the southern side of the town. Against the rear wall are the graves of four WW2 airmen who died on the 23rd June 1944.
 

   

Flight Details:

Base: R.A.F. Breighton, North Yorkshire
Unit: 78 Sqdn. Bomber Command
Aircraft: Halifax Mk III, serial LK840
Target: Laon, Aisne, France
Incident: The aircraft crashed at Quinquempoix killing four of the crew. Sgts. A. Gill and W. C. Brown were taken prisoner. Sgt. S. W. Fox survived and escaped.
