Sacquenay Churchyard

Sacquenay is a village 41 kilometres north-east of Dijon in the Department of the Côte d'Or. The Churchyard is in the centre of the village. There are four aimen of WW2 buried here. They died on the 15th July 1943.

     

Flight Details:

Base: R.A.F. Lissett, Yorkshire
Unit: 158 Sqdn. Bomber Command
Aircraft: Halifax Mk II, serial HR752
Target: Montbéliard, Doubs, France
Incident: Aircraft cashed near Sacquenay after being shot down by Hauptman Rauth of Group 4, Dijon. Four airmen were killed. Warrant Officer V. C. Wainwright and Sgt. J. Little were taken prisoner. Sgt. G. G. Arnold escaped
